Jeremy Esposito, MD, MSEd is an Attending Physician in the Emergency Department at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a Practice-based Scholar within CHOP's Center for Violence Prevention.
Jeremy Esposito, MD, MSEd is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Attending and the Medical Director of Behavioral Health in the Emergency Department at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Esposito is also a Practice-based Scholar at CHOP's Center for Violence Prevention and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He leads a multidisciplinary team of providers aiming to identify and address mental and behavioral health needs, implement improvements to the care model in the emergency department and throughout CHOP, improve follow up for mental health concerns, and use comprehensive data and frontline experience to advocate for additional resources and change.
Dr. Esposito believes that improving mental health is an emergency, and it takes stakeholders in all realms of healthcare to advance services and address unmet mental and behavioral health needs of patients. Through collaboration and partnerships with teams outside of the emergency department, he aims to work in synergy to understand the gaps in care and collaborate to create solutions and advocate for additional resources and legislation. He recently led a Department of Pediatrics Chair’s Initiative with a multidisciplinary team working to connect primary care patients to mental health services once identified through dedicated social work care coordination, enhancements in the electronic health record, and education. Dr. Esposito is also a member of the Zero Suicide Collaboration, working with team members to advance suicide prevention efforts.
