Community-Engaged Research Partnerships
The Center for Violence Prevention (CVP) values and honors relationships with community organizations and partners that enable our work to have meaningful impact on the lives of practitioners, patients, families, and other key stakeholders. Community research partnerships ensure that our studies are co-created with community expertise, that the questions we ask are meaningful and relevant, and that the answers and solutions we develop can be readily implemented and disseminated.
We believe that using community-engaged research methodologies centers community needs and voices, empowers community and academic partners to contribute their unique strengths, and prioritizes research-to-action to support long term sustainability. While funding sources for community research partnerships vary, some of this work was initiated through Community Driven Research Day (CDRD). CDRD brings together academic research teams and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to investigate research questions that they are interested in answering about how we can advance health and equity for their community members.
