Gabriela (Gabi) Thomas, MS is a Community-Based Social Worker for the Family Advocacy and Support program (GRIT/FAS) at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP) Center for Violence Prevention. Gabi has experience in counseling and mentoring youth in a variety of settings throughout the city of Philadelphia. She began at CHOP as a Clinical Counseling Intern for The Community Violence and Trauma Support Programs (CVTS).
Gabi provides supportive case management services to children and families who are within the CHOP Primary Care Network and have been impacted by trauma and/or adversity. She leads with the understanding that healthy development and healing is a product of establishing safety through fulfilling essential needs, promoting physical, mental, and emotional health, and supporting the authenticity of her clients.

Gabi grew up in Northeast Philadelphia attending some of the most diverse public schools in the city. She attended Temple University for her undergraduate degree, where she studied Film and Media Arts, Anthropology, and competed on the NCAA D1 Woman’s Rowing Team. Following her time at Temple, Gabi became an active member of her community by working in several non-profits in the city. It was at Philadelphia City Rowing where she began aiding in the healthy development of youth as a mentor and coach. In 2024, Gabi graduated from Thomas Jefferson’s MS in Community and Trauma Counseling Program and earned the J-TEN Joe Foderaro Memorial Award for her deep commitment to community service and impact.
