VIP addresses client and family needs related to mental health therapy, psychiatric and psychological evaluation, and substance abuse treatment.  

Assist in developing comprehensive plan for complex mental health needs
  • Coordinate care between providers and client/ caregiver 
  • Advocate for appropriate services and level of care
  • Call mental health providers
File VCAP for client counseling expenses
  • Outline application process 
  • Assist in completion of application
  • Provide guidance regarding supplemental application components (e.g., receipts) 
  • Request itemized medical bills from providers to submit with application 
  • Ask questions of VCAP personnel on behalf of client/caregiver 
  • Submit physical copy of VCAP or provide necessary mailing items (envelope, stamps) to caregiver
Refer client or family member to specialized external mental health services
  • Provide information about and discuss external support providers with client/caregiver
  • Complete referral to blended case management services
  • Complete referral to wrap-around or intensive behavioral health services 
  • Refer client or sibling to early intervention support
Refer client for psychiatric or psychological evaluation
