CHOP Mentor
Research Experiences for Undergraduates Student (Summer 2024)
"This summer, I was given the opportunity to gain research experience under the mentorship of Rachel Myers, PhD, and Hilary Kapa, MPH. I worked on a qualitative community-based participatory research project focusing on the implementation of trauma-informed practices in community-based organizations. Throughout the summer, I learned more about trauma-informed practices, created a data collection database, conducted semi-structured interviews, and witnessed the beginning of qualitative analysis. Participating in community-based research on a qualitative project expanded my view of research and helped me lay the foundation for future research roles.
I am grateful to have been part of this study, which has exposed me to many new concepts and allowed me to gain new skills. From my experience working on this project, as well as from speaking to many professionals at CHOP, I have confirmed my post-graduate interests and am excited to continue to apply my newly learned skills in future endeavors.
Overall, I leave this internship appreciative of both of my mentors and each member of the CVTS and CVP team for making this summer an incredibly memorable opportunity."
